1) it seems like only yesterday i was blogging about the engagement of my friends, charles and dani (click here to read about that happy day), but on friday august 29th they officially tied the knot! it was a beautiful ceremony, held outside in a garden and filled with laughter, heartfelt vows, and bubbles. at the reception, everyone got a little jar of wildflower honey as a wedding favour. the people at my table forgot to take theirs so i took six. i’m pretty sure that is socially acceptable. unfortunately, i didn’t get a picture with the bride and groom (you’ll just have to take my word for it- they looked amazing) so here’s a picture of me holding a bucket of flowers to decorate their honeymoon getaway car instead.
2) school is officially in session! yesterday was imagine day which is ubc’s big orientation day for first years. all the clubs set up a booth outside and we decided this year to build a gum wall for our intervarsity booth. we offered people a stick of gum to chew and add to the wall while also challenging them with the question ‘what do you want to be remembered for?‘ as they left their gum mark on our wall, they also left their answer on the index cards surrounding our masterpiece. some of the things that people want to be remembered for include: kindness. sports. my laugh. beard. it rained the whole day, but we stood in the downpour anyway, four people under one umbrella, chewing gum and signing people up until our fingers wrinkled up like raisins.
3) it was also my beautiful umma’s birthday yesterday!! we celebrated with a widespread chinese take-out dinner in our dining room and our go-to family favourite strawberry mango mousse cake from anna’s cake house. i am convinced that my mom is the greatest mom in the universe, or at least the sweetest. celebrating her is definitely a great way to start the year. 사랑해 엄마! 엄마를 생각할때마다 내 마음이 기뻐 넘처. 고맙고 또 고마워.
